About Us
With a passion for pushing the envelope, Founder and Owner, David Carner, began his relationship with his award-winning donkey, Ellroy, over 9 years ago when he brought home Ellroy as a foal. He later started participating in the heritage sport of Colorado, burro racing! Collaborating with his partner, Leslie Altman, and her love of laughter and all things ASS-related, Ass Pro Shop was born.
David and Leslie dreamed of a one-stop-shop for all things ASS-related. You’ll find information about all things donkey, including books and movies, as well as fun and funny merchandise of ASS-tounding quality.

Our illustrious team member and award winning pack burro, Ellroy is the quintessential ASS of Ass Pro Shop! He is an incredible animal, weighing in at over 850 lbs! He’s a gentle giant, friendly and docile burro, a real Cl-ASS act! He is a wonderful amb-ASS-ador for the sport of burro racing.
